Strong wind and the brief burst of Spring warmth over the weekend had gone. Water clear and still falling. No hatch and only three rises seen and none interested in the various offerings from my fly box.
First time on this beat - good stretches but short compared with the neighbouring beat Dinas fished last year. Given they are priced the same perhaps Dinas offers better value.

Good to on the river at long last. Only a few rises seen and a very light trickle of grannom in the sunny spells. No fish taken, not even a bump when nymphing. However the setting is beautiful with the usual companions of dippers, kingfishers, red kites, buzzards and a large new generation of lambs.

Beat:Lower Crai
Fishing:Trout (River)

After helping to cut back the Crai stream earlier this spring I was keen to see how it fished, and casting access was much improved. The Crai valley was ignoring the warm temperatures around the UK and gave me a cold blast in my face as I pushed upstream. However, there were fish showing to a steady hatch and I did manage to rise a few to my winged olive pattern but I kept nothing on. Looking forward to a big weekend trip later in May when I hope things will warm up both literally and on the fishing front too :-)

Beat:Honddu Maes y Beran
Fishing:Trout (River)

Arrived early at this very nice beat in the beautiful Honddu valley. Fished just a couple of hours and managed three small trout, best was 13", two took a ptn and one to a dry emerger. River had good flow and was very clear.
Would have been better to have started later in the day and fished through. Did not see a hatch or any surface activity part from the one that took my dry!
3 Trout
