22 wbt to 9 inches. All caught on a dropper fished under the dry fly. I had a few splashy rises to the dry but no solid takes - goes to show how effective the NZ style dropper can be compared to a single dry. The river was easy to access albeit small and shallow. Improvised casting was required! The deeper pools all held a good number of fish.

Water a bit lower than I usually fish this beat at, but running clear. A few fish rising as I started so went for the dry fly which produced 4 smallish fish. In the afternoon I decided to fish Czech nymph style that brought 3 lovely 18" fish to the net from the fast deeper water with many missed and plenty of heavy nymphs lost. Good day.

Surprisingly good day for August. Perhaps the rain earlier in the week helped. Good water levels and clear. 3 good sized fish hooked in the flats above the bridge. 2 freed themselves before reaching the net. A nice 13"wbt made it into the net. Duo proved effective with the nymph doing the business. Safely released. Heavy hatch going on most of the day. Mostly small olives, but some blues; although the fish were not going mad for them. A few fish rising higher up the beat but spooked as soon as an approach was made. A couple of good views of a Kingfisher completed a very pleasant day.

Lovely day on Wye. Very good fishing, but from 1 pm weather changed, pressure went up, strong wind started to blow. Fish refused to feed, and we were struggling to get a bite. We managed just few barbel and chub on evening.

2 x sewin 1.5 and 2 pounds on Secret Weapon and Surface Lure. New fish are in the pools since the higher water of last few days including a few larger ones showing, but only small fish taken from a pool tail tonight. Clear sky and resulting temperature drop/mist by 1 o'clock.

Fishing:Salmon

Salmon were showing in Llangoed pool. No takes. 1 Trout from rapids (returned). No rise evident, in spite of huge hatches of sedges, but enjoyable fishing nonetheless.N.B. The boat needs fixing - one of the rowlocks from an oar has come away - an old repair seems to have given in following gradual wear and tear. Rowing was difficult but not impossible without it.

First time to this beat, took a friend Howard who had never fished a river with fly rod nor ever caught a grayling on rod and line. We made our way to the bottom of the beat, the river looking a little coloured, and the weather warm, cloudy and very little wind. We started on the dry and I caught a grayling on the dry and Howard had his first grayling shortly after.
Both missed several others before Howard had his second, after this we started moving up the beat. The wind got progressively worse as the day went on and a strong downstream wind made dry fly presentation difficult so we switched to nymphing. Howard had a little brownie, whereas I caught seven grayling. Oddly the only thing they seemed interested in was a white coloured czech nymph.
The Wading at this beat is easier at the lower end, but there are areas with large boulders further up that make wading tricky. So tricky that I took a nice refreshing dip!Overall this beat has so much to go at, some nice pocket water, dry fly flats, gullies, deep holes and fast runs. Really enjoyed the day and will definitely return to this beat, thanks WUF.
