Great day with Mick the local Gilly but sadly the only thing that got hooked was myself when Mick caught me on the left cheek when demonstrating his role cast (Ouch!). The midday break at the local pub called the Hostelry was very relaxing. There were several Salmon seen jumping but with the water having colour none taken. Although no fish caught my brother and I enjoyed the day and was kept entertained by Micks good humour.

Rising river and colouring water. Lower stretch fished better in deeper runs amongst the shallow riffles. Plenty of barbel and a few chub.

Spent the day dry fly fishing for trout, unfortunately nothing caught. Saw very few rises and there wasn't much insect activity. Still had a lovely day next to the river.

Water level at Ross was approx 0.4m. Fished feeder and pellets / meat. We fished upstream of the car park, we enjoyed the day but were disappointed with lack of swims downstream. Also don't appreciate the one rod only rule, it makes no sense to me, rod licence allows 2!!!!

Very skinny water with little flow. started from road bridge and finished at sewage plant, so fished roughly half of beat.fished the first couple of pools size 18 midge with no success so switched to size 22 nymph with 1.5mm gold bead and was instantly into fish. First cast one of twelve inches and second cast one of 4 inches lol. It was then a case of crawling on knees to get into position casting into any fast water. I picked up a further nine between 6-12 inches before stopping. There were a fair few trout in sight but sadly the slightest wake in the slow water scattered them instantly.

One of our favourite beats. Plenty of swims to choose so we did a bit of roving around. We caught barbel from five different swims with four of them coming from where we spotted a few barbel turning out past the middle of the river.
Nice to catch some on the centrepin too today with a bit of Wallis casting which needs a little work on yet. Good fun though. Today's wildlife included more than enough swans, kingfisher busy in the margins, tawny owls out and about early evening.
