Ah what a lovely day, the weather was a bit rainy but at least it wasn't cold.. The water conditions were great considering the Ithon was flooded when we drove past it.

Fishing was a bit tough but we managed 3 small brownies and one 14" out of season Grayling (quickly released)

The fish mostly came to Pheasant Tails and beaded Hares Ear variations.

Almost didn't fish due to the very wet weather forecast from midday, but got up early to get a few hours in the morning. In the overcast conditions it fished quite well for a couple of hours before the heavy rain came - a decent hatch of pale wateries, also low numbers of a few other mayfly species inluding yellow may, olive upright and large brook dun - caught two nice trout off the top.

Very wet and windy.
All fish off east side as wind too strong to fish other bank.
All on retrieve with Kate McLaren bumble, half hog and any gold bodied fly best. Largest around 10 oz
Fish generally taking 4-6 inches down. Very little off the top.

Fishing:Salmon

This was a last-minute booking after we were washed off our regular Wye beat. The river was running clear and at a good pace to swing a fly for most of the beat (0.7m on the Chainbridge gauge). No salmon seen or caught, but at least we had a chance. Many thanks to Allyson for recommending the beat and to the owner (Barry), who very kindly called to offer advice.
