A beautiful beat. Not a fish seen. Waded full length from 1400 to 1730. water clear as gin. Bottom mix of silt and shale and very wadeable for juniors. 6 or more major trees fallen across swim. Overhead canopy forces side casting throughout but water made up of multiple riffles, glides and holding pools and it was a wondrous afternoon requiring much bending and exiting and re entering of the river.

The day started off very well with 10 fish to the net and a few dropped in the first two hours on upstream nymphs. Then an early lunch waiting for the much anticipated olive hatch. The hatch happened as expected, but the fish just didn't respond. Only a handful of fish seen rising throughout, but none taken. Can't put my finger on it as there could've been many reasons why the fish were reluctant to rise. One more fish on nymphs finished of our day. Lovely day to be on the water even with a few hairy moments whilst deep wading as the water was a bit higher than I have experienced on this beat. Will be back again with the warmer weather and lower flow.

Water was high and pushing through after rain, and coupled with bright sunlight and a harsh downstream wind made conditions a little hard. Managed 2 WBT taken on a GRHE fished through faster water at the Bridge end of the beat.

Breezy day with showers and cloud but sun in between. Weak hatch (Dark Olive) in early afternoon. Tried all methods but fish seemed deep. Only saw 1 rise all day. Picked up best fish of about 1lb from lower pool on copper John fished deep. Beat not as good now, the Dinas part is no longer included. OK for 1 angler but no more.

Quite a cold but sunny day with surprisingly little fly life until about 4pm when there were small groups of grannom flying up river but didn't seem to evoke much reaction from fish. Presume these were returning female from the hatch a few days earlier. Water was difficult to fish as quite coloured so wading was tricky as I didn't know the beat and couldn't see the bottom. The owner rang me and talked me through the beat which was very useful. Why couldn't his very helpful pointers to where to get in and out of the river be incorporated into the beat map. The banks on this part of the river are quite steep with quite a lot of vegetation so difficult to fish from the bank unless you have a long rod or can get in the water. 1 fish ~ 10 oz caught and released came to silver Invicta but was the only fish all day.

Arrived in dry at 0930 with temp 9C and very light SE breeze. By 0950 drizzle started turning to very heavy rain for half an hour. When we left at 1600 temp 16C. River flowing fast, a little high and a bit murky. Saw less than half dozen fly (March browns?). Saw no fish at all. Tried various nymphs and a March Brown.
