Lovely stretch with more than enough water for our two rods to go at over the course of the day.
We arrived to find a small hatch of upwings taking place, overcast, with a slight tinge of colour in the water . . . . promising. . . . . until that was the sun decided to make an appearance and rain up stream coloured the water further, with large amounts of algae/debris being washed down which pretty much killed any hope of a hatch and rising fish. We persevered by prospecting the faster runs with heavy nymphs and were rewarded with 2 fish. One small and the other a lovely plump trout of 1lb 6oz (both returned).
Will return in hopefully more favourable conditions.

A glorious day on a favourite beat. Wading was perfect, with the gauge at Ross reading 0.37 online at 06:30, all the way down the right bank to the pipe too.
More wildlife than you can wave a stick or a 15ft rod at. No salmon unfortunately but plenty of other species bumping the flies of all patterns, shapes and sizes. Even had amorous Barbel trying to spawn with my boots; now that’s a first for me! And so many chub I’ll have to run a stick float through in the summer and get some on the ‘Pin’……

Bright and gusty conditions contributed to difficult presentation and probably very selective trout. Apart from a nice 14oz Brown early on in the session that fell to a nymph and a few takes whilst overcast, all fish were taken as soon as the sun dropped below some of the high banks on the lower section of the beat. Very few fish rising some March browns hatching during the day. Increasing numbers of small Mayfly hatches towards the end of the session. Noticed alot of Crane fly? Six trout in total, three each. Apart from earlier fish, dry fly took better fish 12oz X 2 the rest were 6oz.
