A blank day, although I did lip hook a couple of fish. Grayling? I tried a variety of nymph patterns and hook sizes. There were a small number of rises towards the left bank in the early afternoon. The water level fell quite quickly in the morning, then rose noticeably in the afternoon It was a dry day in this area, the opposite of the BBC forecast. A coldish wind blew down the valley; the prevailing wind was northerly, variable. The water was noticeably coloured all day - a muddy, rather than peaty, shade.

Difficult day. Slight rise in river level combined with lots of weed made fishing more and more challenging as day progresed. By 2.30pm we decided to finish early and hope conditions improved by Friday. Not a single bite which is unusual.

Very hard to find the parking spots for lower stretch. Not obvious. Could WUF have some small discreet signs made to indicate where we are supposed to park cars?
(Wuf: we'll look into it)

First time on fishery, very nice part of the Wye.Started fishing about 9.00am through until 6.00pm. Fish were caught throughout the day. Weather was
very warm ( only place in the country it did not rain). Water was low not much flow. Barbel from the smallest fish in the river ( about 1lb) caught by Pete up to 9.12 caught by Alan, who managed 12 fish on his first visit to the Wye. All fish were caught on Pellet and Boilie using Feeder. Very good day.

CP and BS from London fished the beat from 11.00am to 5.30pm. Cool and overcast weather; no rain. At the start we met local fishing authority Rob, who provided valuable guidance and advice regarding fishing on the upper half of the beat. We fished mostly dry flies, small n.14 paraloops and/or pheasant tail nymphs. Occasional rise in the slower water and alongside brambles. 1 fish released there; another larger fish (13”) on faster water above. Peaty water colour, good level. Fished up to top of the beat. 5 brown trout caught. Magical grayling nowhere in sight.

After reading a couple of negative reports on this beat we were apprehensive. However, we had the most amazing Autumn day with plenty of fishable water! All fish came to feeder and trotted maggot. It's worth varying the bait, as we caught on luncheon meat, popped up pellets and varying pellet types fished on the deck. Long hook lengths of 3ft plus also worth a go. Word of warning - at the time of fishing there was an immense Hornets nest in a willow tree adjacent to the lower most style on the beat. We got well and truly mobbed when our head torches activated the swarm on the way back from fishing the croy. Advise that you tackle the style with dimmed/switched off head torches......
