Fished before and after work. In the morning, lost a good fish after long first run that took at the top of the Mill stream, then in the Rectory pool, at the end of the old croy a steady tightening turned into a clean 10lber that had been in a couple of weeks.
After work, fished the same water. 2 separate fish moved to the fly on the far side of the Mill stream before, about 30 yards down, a 4.5lb grilse took solidly. No further action in neck of Rectory or the pool itself, but 3 fish hooked and 2 others moved in 3hrs fish fishing is pretty good!

Phil and James Bullock with Sandy Geyer from Prestbury and Mike Charleston from Loughborough. We got rained off Gromain yesterday and fished Syfydrin on Aber Angling Ticket for 43 wbt to 18" but that's another story. River in good nick today and fish wanted to play.JB had a plus 20 inch grayling and what is reckoned to be the self same 20 inch wbt he had on our last visit - exact same spot! Cracking fishing all on dries and the first grayling for MC. Happy bunnies all round thank you!

Arrived at the venue at 7:30am to find the river up some 1 - 1.5 foot and coloured. During the course of the day the level dropped considerably and the water cleared (but not completely). From both a salmon and trout perspective the conditions as the day progressed looked ideal. We concentrated on salmon fishing in the morning landing a few trout that took size 12 doubles. In the afternoon the trout became very active and were taken on both dry fly and nymphs. A lovely beat to fish with varied water and I shall return next season to fish for trout.

First time here for me - I usually crawl around tiny streams. River high, fast and dark causing difficult access and wading from this bank. Weather poor. But big bright heavy nymph paid off and took some good fish from 1 to 1.5lbs - dropped a couple of big beasts too prob because I bullied them too much in the fast water and couldn't chase. A couple of smaller fish were unexpectedly seen rising through the murk and took a pale watery. Very pretty and fit fish. Satisfaction rating high! Oh yes - one small fish from a feeder stream.

Did not see one fish over 2cm move all day despite good conditions. Seeing kingfishers and dippers was some consolation. Easy access and wading made for a relaxing day.
