Saw quite a few fish moving, but no takes. Conditions were favourable with fog till late morning, after which cloud rolled in to leave a perfect afternoon for fishing. Even though no fish were taken, all in all, a great day's fishing.

A very disappointing day, when we arrived we found that the fishery map provided was totally different to the stretch itself, and for anyone wishing to fish the only two swims on the bottom of the stretch, then you have a very very long walk. In addition where you could previously get to the river at the bottom, you can't anymore because it is so overgrown. There is probably only 5 real swims, all within 100m above the car park the rest is pretty unfishable.
1 small barbel, 1 brown trout and 1 decent chub and some chublets...

24 x grayling 12-18 inches, five on nymphs and the rest on dry Grayling Steel Blue. A cold and foggy start so we lingered over Olympic Breakfasts in the Builth Wells Little Chef (in the grayling anglers' tradition) before making our way to the river. Some time was spent nymphing, but it was really a dry fly day, warm and still, lots of leaves on the surface, and pale wateries hatching regularly. Very nice dry fly fishing, the kind of autumn day we hope for, with a very good average size of grayling - no shotts taken at all. A heavy cock grayling measured at 18 inches was the last fish of the day as dusk came on.

Fish evident, but my skills not adequate to tempt any! Was using a green olive and only saw a couple of rises, though there were flies above the water. Maybe a nymph might have worked better.

Fished by Boy's Rock (back eddy gave problems) and then next swim down for 7 hrs without a bite - and then had an 8lb barbel on halibut pellet. Well worth the wait! Several salmon seen jumping out - the crash does keep you awake!
