Wonderful beat with salmon moving throughout. The whole river system was low however we started to get bites at dusk with 1 rod catching a brace of barbel over 8lbs. Great day!

The river was low but following overnight wind and rain the river was full of leaves which made it very difficult to present either a nymph or a dry fly. There was only a very occasional rise, but if the fish was covered it was usually possible to get a take, but sadly we either missed the takes or lost the fish, so ended up with a blank. Still a pleasant day, although this beat is not as varied as others on the Irfon.

1 angler caught a 7lb 12oz barbel on luncheon meat fished half way across the river. The 2nd angler was smashed up on the first take, went onto catch 4 eels, best around 3.5lbs and a barbel of 4.5lbs. All these fish feel to luncheon meat fished 2/3 across the river. The other anglers had 20 chub between them as well as about 6 small dace. All the chub ranged between 2 to 4 ozs fished on trotted maggot. Nothing was caught on the swim feeder.
The weather was breezy and upstream which helped long trotting. The water was low and clear.
The fishery itself was OK but we were confined to the last swims on the furthest upstream boundary. The other swims had steps down step banks but these were very muddy and it would have been dangerous to have attempted to go down and wade.

I don't know what went wrong but it was a very quiet day on Wyebank. Nothing at all until 4.30 when I had a bite and ultimately lost it through my own incompetence. In total 3 takes but no fish to show for it. The river was very low, and the weather was raining and overcast for the day. Tried a whole host of methods ranging from feeder to PVA bags bookies to pellet. Still a bad day on the Wye beats a week of good days in the office.

No fish caught nor bites had. It didn't help that a match had been held on the opposite bank on the previous day!
River was low and clear and weather was overcast and ideal fishing obviously affected by over activity unfortunately!

A challenging day, with the river still running low & clear & with a change in weather conditions. Adapted a pro-active approach to the day, moving swims many times & trying a variety of baits (halibut pellets of various sizes & a range of fish meal based boilies & meat) & sticking with the normally productive methods of the feeder or PVA bags. We eventually found a few fish feeding, taking a couple from one swim at the downstream end of the woods early afternoon & a third, a couple of hundred yards further upstream just before dusk, an enjoyable & fulfilling day on the Wye as always.

A day of light cloud and a little early morning drizzle. Arrived at midday had a walk along the beat and pre baited a couple of swims. Had the place to myself and the first Barbel of 7 1/2lb arrived after about an hour. Caught the second Barbel about hour and a half later weighing in at 5 1/2lb. Had a quiet spell then had a Chub of 3lb 5oz. Started to rain at about 5pm when I had the final Barbel of 7lb 5oz. It then lashed down so I packed in and headed back to the holiday cottage. Great day thanks WUF.

A lovely stretch of the river, loads of overhanding trees and nice looking swims. A bit quiet on the day we fished and the river was low and running clear, and between the 4 anglers we had 4 barbel and 3 chub, all on maggot feeder.

Half of the fish caught were on dries even though not much rising. Odd fish caught here and there, no real hot areas. Good day nice weather easy wading. The big black bull stood near the gate and took no notice of me at all....luckily!

Just fished for the morning by the hut - no bites on meat or pellet. Very busy on the opposite bank, I might be old fashioned, but I thought that the mid-point of the river marked the swim when somebody is fishing from the opposite bank, but not on this beat...
WUF Note: Etiquette aside, the legal position on river fisheries is that you are not allowed to wade beyond the mid point of the river. Doing so constitutes a trespass.
