As with the day previously my fishing pal had to cry off as still under the weather. Tried several sswims until the weather turned wet and then stayed put under the umbrella for the rest of the day. Plenty of chub action but just a couple of barbel after 5 p.m. Usual method of feeder and pellet.

Weather bright with light breeze, some emergers out during late afternoon. Tried Czech nymphing and also a small light dun/black spider but to know avail. Trout there(6 - 8") but very skittish in the bright light and spooked at the slightest movement. The water was incredibly clear and sadly too low for ideal conditions. One of the most beautiful wild streams I've ever fished, so will try again when water levels are hopefully much higher.

Great spot this one but the water is very low at the moment. Hot, bright sunshine all day, not much chance of a catch but did every single beat like a numpty!!!! Nice to be out but no bites. Many thanks to Terry for letting me in.

Three inches on the Ddoll Farm guage but what a difference a day can make to fish behaviour. Compared with yesterday just upstream at Dolgau, we had to put up with incessant bright sun plus a strong downstream wind for most of the day. Even before the wind got up though, the fish weren't as obliging as yesterday, but the wind killed it for sure for most of the day. Some midges were around from the off, a few olives during the day and sedges as usual, but by and large not too many rising fish, and those which didn't rise seemed not too keen to do so either! In spite of this we managed to catch fish on hare's ear and olive emergers and Duck's Duns, Grayling Steel Blue, Elk Hair Caddis and just one on a PTN. Most of the grayling were around 12" with a couple just a tad bigger. Very hard work for sure but not a bad result given the conditions. We tried all sorts of water and found fish in most and seemed to be most successful where there was some shade. Sight of the day for sure was Glyn seeing a large common carp towards the bottom of the beat. Cormorants around as they were yesterday.

River was low, slow, clear and conditions were bright and warm. Only fished from 0700 until 1400 as from about 0900 there was a constant stream of canoes and at times, groups of 10 to 20. Most were good and went to the middle to far side but there were enough just coming within 5m of the back to make even fishing 1/4 to 1/3 of the way out impossible at times.
Lovely stretch and will prob go again but more autum/winter when hopefully there will be less traffic. We did manage one 8lb Barbel before the canoes arrived.

Fished with a fly for salmon for approximately 4 hours with no success at all. Tried a variety of fly patterns - nothing helped. River was very low - some pools almost impossible to fish with a fly as a result due to insufficient flow to make the fly swim.
Beat bailiff was very helpful in terms of fly advice and telling me where to fish, but no fish even seen, let alone caught. Coarse anglers did report one salmon jumping mid-afternoon.

Lovely sunny day but the river was running very low and clear. We fished at the lower end of the beat and after a slow start the fish eventually came on the feed. We stuck with the conventional feeders and luncheon meat or sweet corn baits. We did lose a fair amount of end equipment on snags but that is the Wye for you. A great day with 2 of the chub exceeding 5 lbs and the barbel up to 9 and half pounds. Saw plenty of wildlife including the kingfisher on his territory. This environment on a well maintained beat is what fishing is all about and as ever Colin the bailiff was full of helpful advice.

Had a morning session on the Edw above the main road bridge before breaking camp. Very low as expected and it doesn't take long to fish it now as there's very few decent pools! That will all change of course when it gets some rain. The trout where in good nick though so lets hope they hold out a while longer!
The wading's a bit tricky now with the thick algae on the rocks, the usual felt and studs didn't quite cut it today so take care!
