River running on the low side, although still some pools deep enough to force exiting the water to pass. 2 very nice oos Grayling downstream of the bridge, almost as soon as I started to fish at around 3.30pm, took a GH Pheasant Tail nymph. Must have spooked the pool as no more action there. Bright sunshine was probably why there was little surface activity, despite plenty of Mayfly about and also a good hatch of small reddish-brown flies late afternoon. Two smallish Brownies took a Grey Wulff between 6 and 7-ish and another held on for half a minute or so before letting go, after which the Rises became more frequent with plenty of slashes at my dry flies although no more hook-ups, despite changing size and pattern frequently. A great evening's Sport in a stunning setting - will definitely put it on my "go back" list!

5 x BT between 6 and 9 inches, 2 x BT 12 inches, 1 x BT 15 inch, 1 x Dace.
All caught on Adams parachute, from midday to 7 pm. All safely returned.
Note to WUF
The gate support posts (for gate access to fishing) are getting more and more rickety. Not sure how long they are going to take anglers weight climbing over gate (which appears to be securely chained closed)

Lovely day no wind but low for salmon at .54m. John Lewis fished from midday for trout only and landed 4 trout, one sea trout of 1.5lb and one small par.
I fished the evening session starting at woodstream with a team of small spiders getting a couple of knocks but none on. Switched to dry fly upstream at the tail of Chine Pool with a size 12 sedge which immediately produced fish of good size from three quarters pound to 1.75lb (17inches). All 6 fish fell to the sedge between 20.30 and 21.15. Great sport.

River level a bit high, but taking a fly well. Had a fish of about 12-13lbs, reasonably clean but not fresh into the river, caught in the Vanstone pool on a flying C.
Mick has made a great job of improving access to the river and the new parking area is a major improvement.

First visit to this beautiful stretch of the Wye, with a trout of about 1lb being caught on a blue doctor fly from the far end of the beat.

Without the promised rain an early start was my best chance, and so it proved with a 38.5" cock fish on a black tube - my best on fly. Fish was starting to colour up but still had lovely violet flanks. I guess a May run springer?

River low even after the day or so of rain previously. Also quite sunny, so the trout saw me well in advance of me casting a fly. However, two small trout approx. 6 inches to dry elk hair and one to goldhead ptn below. The odd fish rising in difficult to access places. Good fun testing my casting skills though! However, negotiating the numerous barriers across the river (fallen trees and cattle fences) beat me in the end and I left for home before getting to the end of the beat. Lovely place to spend a few hours though and on a day with a bit more water / less bright it would be worth a return visit!

A lovely location and seems very under fished. Tricky wading in places on the bedrock which is very slippery.
Plenty of fish in all the usual runs and riffles including a few surprises like a beautiful 12 inch fish from the tiniest pocket gave a great scrap on my 9ft 3 weight!
Fished French leader with 2 weighted nymphs most of the afternoon apart from 1 pool towards the top where a few fish were rising I tried a dry to no avail.

The final day of a four day trip and fishing a familiar beat I very much enjoy. Again the fishing started slow and only picked up as the day warmed. Rain in hills had slightly coloured the water and there was a good flow and a steady hatch including sporadic May. When the sun showed itself it was very warm and the fish really started to move. A great end to a fantastic trip. Thank you WUF.
