Short afternoon session today, was supposed to be a recon mission but tempted by some nice pools and runs at the top of the beat I didn't explore much. What I did see was encouraging, will come back for sure. Car park might do with a trim otherwise excellent access with pipe on the barbed wire noting access points, nice touch. 1 WBT on small nymph, klink and dink, no rises.

Lovely beat, running a little fast and high, however the fishing was excellent. Returned 5 brown trout, all caught on floating line and small nymphs under a Klink hammer dry fly.
Many thanks to Barry for contacting me and giving me a great run down on the beat.
Well worth a visit when the water level is a little lower.

River clear and 1'1". There were LDOs hatching in the am, but trout ignored them. But fish did rise later in the am to something much smaller.
Access to the river is limited at this height of water. Banks are steep or vertical ! The top of the beat is only accessible through a jungle of rafted-trees and branches, Himalyan Balsam, Japanese knotweed, nettle and brambles.
Lovely to see kingfishers and lots of sand martins that were setting up their colony.

Well I did intend to fish the little Clywedog, but the farmer was penning sheep and busy in the only parking area down that narrow lane, so I reversed up, onwards to Hundred House, only another twenty mins onto the journey !!!
Actually I did three hours here and finished off with two at Cregrina, I'll submit that report also......
Ohhhhhhhh dear , really overgrown and what a cracking beat this used time be ..... one of my favs ... Tis a pity no investment is put into these streams..... still I persevered .... I don't mind over grown but jeeeeeeeeeezzz this is like primary jungle!!!
Fish taking surface insects by one, manged five on the dries ..... one was particularly fussy , three fly .... he took a size twenty f fly !!!!
I was actually pretty pleased with five, considering the dense foliage , stuff in.river etc etc etc ....Sizes of fish, between eight and eleven inches .... Happy days ... Still plenty to go at ,just a bit sparse now!!! And thr fish are there, just frustratingly not doable with dry fly tactics ..... loved it though as always...A quick pastie at my truck, and a can of diet coke ...then a mooch to Cregrina at half three, see if the parking spot is free ....ahhhhh yes ... might as well give it a go, happy days !!! The Edw extravaganza continues........

Well, after battling it out at Hundred House, all you've gotta worry about here is the bedrock... but go steady and its ok .....ish !!! Fun here, when I walked down at half three....did a couple of hours, missing the rockey middle section, just incorporating a nice pool i know is fun on the dries .... in fact two pools produced a few good fish, and under the bridge the section there was fun also. The river height is perfect for dries now , and clear too!!!.....Some good fish on the Cregrina beat this afternoon tiny dries ....lovely stuff. And the colours of these Cregrina fish, stunning brownies.... The sport was just great fun in fairness, and rising fish obliged eith satisfying takes to my dries ....just the best of our sport hey !!! Anyway , managed eight to the net and a few slipped off as well ..gggrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!
Sizes I guess were between seven and thirteen inches ... three of the fish were beauties this afternoon.Half five, that was me done, a few lovely days on the wild streams, and great sport too .... some clients early into next week up on Claerwen reservoir, should be fun !!! Home time, and I have a date with a coooooool bottle of amber nectar !! Lol ....
