9 x trout 8-14 inches, Waterhen Bloa, Jingler. The very cold downstream wind is still with us, although the air temperatures are rising - up to 8 or 9 degrees today and sunny most of the time. Large dark olives hatching between 11.30 and 2.30, with a few fish rising to spiders and dry fly.

Ok,if you're reading this hoping for tips and guidance on how to tackle this water them I'm afraid I will be no help whatsoever!
This was my first ever attempt at fly fishing, my companion however is much more experienced than me having been once before. First I'd like to thank the WUF for making the whole experience possible, what a great organisation.
The day was a bright, chilly, very early spring day, the river looked glorious, clear with just a tinge of colour and running through at quite a pace and very cold.
Marc used a pink shrimp looking fly while I opted for a Grayling special and gold headed nymphs, by the end I think I was doing a reasonable impression of someone who knew what they were doing, a very steep learning curve. In all a fabulous day out in a wonderful location but no fish were caught. Maybe next time...

I fished the Ashford House beat with a friend today. Not too cold but quite windy at times. LDOs started showing at about 11am but the hatch never really got going and nothing came up for them. I tried spiders and nymphs to no avail. But then a lot of March Browns started to come off with a flurry of them about every 10 minutes. The trout nailed them but only in one pool it seemed. My friend tried other parts of the river where he could see the MBs but nothing rose. I rose 5 fish, catching one of about a pound. Long distance casts were needed to reach the rising fish, hence my poor hooking stats I think. A lovely day and great to get off the mark for the new season.

Fishing:Coarse

Our first time on this beat, so decided to split up with RW taking the roving approach covering the top end of the beat, and RB going for the static approach at the lower end. The deeper water towards the top end of the first field proved the most productive, where RB caught the 2 barbel. A beautiful mild day in stunning surroundings made all the more enjoyable.
