A day that I found myself in the zone and the fish were right there with me. Six hours fishing and 39 fish. Fished three swims and caught all on various 8mm pellets. Constantly adjusting tactics to avoid the attentions of the gluttonous chub that seemed to relate the splash of a feeder to that of a dinner bell.
I would like thank Colin Richardson the bailiff who was as always cheerful, helpful and supportive. This fishery feels very secure in his care.

Very pleasant day float fishing pellet. General size of fish small with only two chub weighing over 2lb with average stamp around a pound. One wild brownie of about a pound and a baby barbel of around the same weight.

Unfortunately, out of 12 rods around me belonging to other anglers, only one fish caught. A few said they would not return as they were really disappointed with the day. Sadly, I too was dissappointed.

All fish taken on feeder fished pellet. Started in top field early morning, this field is popular with dog walkers & after having a stick thrown into my swim closely followed by a big black flying dog I decided to move down the bottom end for some peace & quite. Had a couple of chub here, moved up into the fast water in the woods (not recommended unless your sure footed as you have to climb down a steep bank onto rocks). It felt like a proper wild fishing adventure & there were plenty of chub here. Booked this beat hopeing to contact some of the barbel that live here however they seem to be very far & few between on this stretch of river

An interesting stretch of the river, helpful advice from Rudy but unfortunately circumstances dictated that I only had a few hours on the river, will definitely return.

Lovely days fishing on a wild stretch of river. The Foundation's directions were clear and the parking was no problem. I fished the first three accessible spots after the confluence of the ditch and the main river. I caught a small chub and trout on legered luncheon meat. Steady feeding attracted a shoal of large chub into my swim. I managed to land the smallest member of the shoal at around 3lb 14oz prior to losing a larger specimen to a pulled hook.
I had a walk down through the woods and found some likely looking spots that looked promising for future visits - probably later in the year when the nettles have died back a little.

Fished first light to 2000 hrs, river conditions good if slightly low, weather mainly overcast with sunny breaks, the last few hrs solid rain. Despite near ideal conditions had only 2 chub, the barbel did not show from any swim throughout the stretch, bait was ledgered pellet.

Very slow fishing all morning and afternoon. Water was busy with no one catching except one individual who was using a bubble float and a suspicious paste from a jar. He was pulling fish in with two rods. I thought a permit only allowed one!. At 3.30pm I gave up on the fly and fished the car park area and had three good rainbows of apprx 2.5 to 3lbs each before 4.30pm to save the day on a small Mepps spinner. Litter is sadly still a problem here.
WUF note - Please report any suspicious activity to the Foundation or NRW Incident Line 0800 807060 immediately on the day so we can deal with it effectively.

Water was running clear and strong and looking very healthy , turning over the stones revealed a good quantity and diversity of bugs .
Fished the pockets with a dry, no real fly coming off but lots of nibbles from tiddlers so presume salmon parr. Had 4 trout to hand, biggest 8 inches and fabulously marked!
Beautiful stream and location.

Dropped down to the Lower Grwyne for a few hours after fishing upper and ditto with water quality etc.
Some cracking runs for the dry and fishing was excellent, 7 trout to hand 8 to 14 inches.
Just fish each pool carefully and slow and be prepared for a surprise, the residents really nail a dry fly and go like fury!
Wonderful stretch of water and great fun, can we have some more please WUF!
