River still high and coloured but dropping during the day. Three anglers fished hard all day for 5 small trout, but in the last hour managed three decent grayling to 1lb 8ozs, all taken on a large dry sedge.

Only three of the rods ended up fishing. We started in Legg Meadow in the upstream part. Conditions looked great, good flow and a consistent colour. However, in the morning we managed just one fish each, two eels and one chub. The chub and the eels were both PBs (though as first time captures they would be!)
At lunchtime, I walked most of the beat with one of the other rods to assess if a move might be in order. With the flow and the seemingly increasing amount of floating weed, we were having a few issues holding bottom in the meadow so when I found the swim with the huge fallen tree in the woods, it looked to me that it might be much easier to position a bait there in the edge of flow, which would mean that most of your line in the water would then be in the eddy and therefore avoiding the weed. I moved whilst the others stuck it out a while in the meadow. Four or five casts in, the rod hopped round and I struck in to a fish that, once landed, took the scales round to 10lbs 8oz. Delighted would be an understatement. Based on this success, and very much at my invitation, one of the other rods then joined me in the same swim to see if he could break his barbel duck. Unfortunately, despite doing everything right, he just couldn't get a bite. I did get three more resulting in one chub of about 4 pounds and 2 lost barbel where the hook-length parted on rocks (I think). Legg Meadow didn't produce any further fish. Surprisingly, by 5pm all the bites dried up and despite fishing through to dusk we didn't see any further action in the woods.
This was the first of two days booked.

The river was up and brown due to Thursday's heavy rain. Caught a 4.5lb chub downstream from the croy's, but the weed volume forced a move. Tried fishing deeper water at lunchtime. This produced five lovely conditioned barbel, three of them between 7lb and 8lb. The usual pellet baits scored again.

I fished hard all morning but the water was droping fast, we could have done with a few more days rain to help sustain the levels. Didn't see any fish but this is one lovely beat & I will be back!

Nice stretch of water but a very long walk. Thank god for the lift there and back by the farmer. We managed a decent chub and 4 barbel to 7lbs. River was coloured and pushing through but not too bad for weed and debris.

The river was still high and coloured after the rain on Thursday. Barry contacted me to see if we could possibly fish the next day instead but our plans could be not be changed in time. Nice of him to try and help us catch some fish!

First time we have fished here.
River was very high and coloured, we fished this beat again on the following Monday and only then realised there was planks out in the river you could fish from!

River higher than last time I came out and still rising with some colour and lots of weed coming down. Difficult to fish mid river.
Fish hard to come by although my friend on another ticket had 4 barbel to around 9lbs.
I lost one, had one and had a chub all in the last hour of daylight. The chap I was with had a couple of chub - it was his first visit but I'm sure he'll be back for more.
Lovely day to be out, sun was shining, very warm. Would only have been better had the barbel really come out to play too!

Good start to the day on the lower part of the of the beat, but as the day went on the flow increased considerably as did the amount of weed and debris coming through, which made fishing very difficult. Enjoyable day though.

River was rising and the colour of cocoa with all manner of debris, but mainly leaves and weed, in it. Impossible to hold position if we were more than a couple of feet from the bank and the slacks were full of weed and assorted debris. Needless to say we caught nothing. The only plus point was beer at £3 per pint at the Boat Inn.
