Tough going today. Arrived at 2pm, first 2 casts resulted in a Chub and a Barbel, then next cast a Barbel lost at the net (hook pull). Then it went quiet. Changes in tactics, baits and swims didn't help. Final swim chosen at 8 pm produced an 8lbs Barbel, a Chublet and another Barbel lost in a snag at last knockings. River rising slowly about an inch per hour and a thick milk chocolate colour, hard work.

Fresh 10 pound salmon from Arnie's Pool on size 8 Red Francis at 8pm - water evidently clear enough for modest-sized fly.

No fish caught but 2 pulls. River high and in excellent condition. As a first time visitor to this beat, a better description of how to obtain access to the river at the top of beat would have saved some time.

At lunchtime realised rain had stopped. River at 1.5m. Booking first class as normal. On river by 3 to find colour clearing. Fished through till dark. Finished with several barbel around 5 to 6lbs plus one of 9lbs 7oz. Also several chub to around 4lbs - lost 3 barbel in same snag - is it now time to put away the flood gear or is there still more to come?

A lovely venue and a really helpful guide in Ian Boney. The access was good with safe, secure parking. Cars without 4 wheel drive may struggle through some patches but once the fields dry out a little this should not be a problem.
The river was fairly high on our visit (approx 1.5m up) making swim choice limited but we managed 2 barbel and 4 chub between us. We would definately come back here again and try in lower water conditions.

Nil Return. River too high and coloured. Had a good go on the fly and then spinner. 3 fish seen running but difficult conditions. Will try again next month.

Fished the bottom of woods section for 8 chub to nearly 4lbs and 4 barbel to 8lbs, all on pellet feeder. River in flood many swims underwater but very happy with catch.
