Beat:Backney (River Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

First visit to the Wye and what a great place. Caught a nice barbel first cast and had steady action through the day finishing with 8 barbel to 6 or 7lb (3 lost)and 21 chub to 3 and a half to 4lb between the 3 of us despite a low clear river. The only dissapointing thing was thinking that we had the beat to ourselves and learning that the land owner has a list of people he lets fish and a couple turned up, but all in all a fantastic day thank you wuf.

(WUF note - the Backney owner allows friends to fish too. We cannot therefore guarantee exclusivity to WUF rods although there should still be plenty of swims to choose from.)

Beat:Ty-Newydd (upper Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Fished Ty Newydd on way back from fishing week at Aberystwyth - James had his first ever salmon, a 12.5lb -fish from the River Rheidol - lovely!

On Ty Newydd we had 35 fish to 3 rods - all on dries - best trout 1lb, 4 grayling also at least that size. River low but fished well, fish mostly in well oxygenated water.

Many thanks for a great days fishing - a perfect end to our week!

Beat:Whitney Court (River Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Managed a couple of hours on Whitney, last fished there in the early seventies !!!! River looked beautifull, in less than ideal conditions caught 4 chub all around 3lb, 1 barbel around 6lb and a bonus grayling around 12oz. The only person I saw all afernoon was one well behaved and polite canoeist.
