Lovely stretch of river and nice day to be out on the banks of the Wye. Contrary to other comments there are lots of places to fish probably 8 spots in the woods and at least 3 in the field and we tried virtually all of them. Water level was low so you could actually get down to water in several places. The fishing was very hard just a couple of very small chub and eels. It was hot but not sure that was reason it fished so hard but we never got a bite from anything other than eels and chublets. Unfortunately there was a mass of green weed coming down the river that covered your line, hooks and feeders and made fishing pretty much impossible. It was a kind of silky weed not the ranunculus that Wye used to be full of. Not sure why this weed is coming down the river this time of year isn't it is too early for it to be dying back water has a slight brown tinge to it so maybe the recent rain washing it through? It did mean you were never confident your bait was fishing properly and constantly had to reel in to clean it off.

Hot and busy with kayaks as expected. Plenty of chub showing near surface layers. I was ledgering. Perhaps a float or surface approach may have brought a few more chub.

Fished the beach on the float, meat and pellet. Only fished the morning due to weather being very hot which in turn brought
out every body to enjoy the river. Would not pick Sunday and school holiday time if I knew that this spot is where all the locals use it for swimming and sun bathing.
But had a good morning, barbel to 6lb and just under the 8lb on the float, most of the chub 3-4lb great sport
Fishing Passport Note : It is mentioned on the website that during hot days, particularly at weekends, other river users can sometimes be present.
