Just over 1½ miles of mostly double bank fishing on the River Irfon just downstream of Llanwrtyd Wells, the smallest town in Britain that is also famous for its hosting of the bog snorkelling world championship and Man versus Horse race! The beat also includes a small section of the Cledan brook.

The Irfon is renowned for its grayling and this beat also offers some good trout fishing. Given the right water conditions, there is also the chance of a salmon, especially in the autumn.

Wading is relatively easy along the majority of the beat in normal flows, with a gravel bed. Much of the beat is also fishable from the left bank, with plenty of casting room.

Parking is approx 270 yards (250m) from the river.

There was an outbreak of crayfish plague in the lower Irfon in July 2024 resulting in the deaths of the many of the native white-clawed crayfish. Visiting anglers MUST ensure against cross contamination by approved check/dry/disinfection procedures, and importantly waders, nets and tackle should be sprayed with Virkon disinfectant before and after fishing.

Half price evening tickets can be purchased after 1pm on the day of fishing. Fishing is allowed from 5pm.
