This 1 mile plus Upper Wye Fishery is set within truly stunning surroundings throughout all seasons. It is double bank for the majority of the Beat. It is located approximately 2 miles south from the town of Rhayader (the Outdoor Capital of Wales) and 10 miles north of the town of Builth Wells. Craig Llyn has several named salmon pools as well as offering superb all year round trout and grayling opportunities. The Fishery has excellent access, benefits from good bank maintenance and is home to a host of beautiful wildlife.
For trout and grayling anglers the water has good variety with a series of riffles, deep pools and pocket water, along with some dry flats towards the lower end of the Beat. The upstream end of the Fishery also has some classic pocket water with plunge pools. For salmon anglers bank fishing is possible along most of the pools, all of which can comfortably covered with a single or small double handed rod. Wading is essential in order to cover some of the bigger pools and care must be taken as some of the pools are extremely deep. Felt and studded soles are recommended.
There are 3 parking spaces for the fishery, two being very close to the river, one involving a 328 yard walk to the River.
The owners reserve the right to fish therefore exclusivity of the Beat cannot be guaranteed. The owners live locally and are offer a full guiding service throughout their multiple beats along the Upper Wye and tributaries – details can be obtained through The Fishing Passport.
Professional Fishing Instructor/Guides can only operate on this fishery if booking a rod for themselves in addition to the client(s). Anyone found not adhering to this will be asked to leave the fishery immediately.
