River running gin clear. All fish caught on fly. Fished this beat last year and the access down to the beat has been much improved as has the path to the upper end of the beat. Thanks as always to the lovely staff in the office who make booking so easy.

Nice sunny day though with a gusty win at times. River very clear and 12" on the Llanstephan gauge. Plenty of flies (medium olives?) coming off the water but very few rising fish. Both anglers caught regularly throughout the day. 8 trout with a best of 15", 4 grayling to 12". The trout were in noticeably better condition than the grayling.

Arrived to the river rising, again. Over 3' on Llanstephan gauge. Should of stayed at home... Fished until midday and departed. Maybe next time.

Great hatch of March Browns around midday. Incredible to see!

A lovely day on the river. It felt like spring had arrived. Large hatches of what I think were March dun appeared late morning for a couple of hours but not a riser in sight. Water still very cold. All fish caught deep on gold head hares ear. Fish sizes were between 8-14 inches.

A beautiful day with the river in excellent condition. Probably too early for the upper river yet though.

A gusty downstream wind with calmer conditions from about 3pm at which time the sun made a welcome appearance. Fished weighted nymphs with a touch of red.

Conditions at Abernant seemed just about perfect with the river at normal level and a generally overcast day with little or no wind. I started in the Lady Alexanders Catch area where I have caught many fish on previous visits but could not get a bite. After half an hour or so I moved down to the Stone Catch area where after wading to mid stream (only knee deep)I found fish willing to feed immediately. Trotted red maggots tempted Grayling after Grayling with a few oos Trout. Sizes were disappointingly small however, with the best Grayling barely making 1lb. A couple of Trout possibly made 1lb 8oz (nothing actually weighed). I had another attempt in LAC later in the day to try and find larger fish but still no bites were forthcoming. Incidentally, waders are essential to reach the most productive runs due to the large areas of shallow gravel. A good day's sport but I failed to find where the big fish live.
