Arrived just before 10am. Blue sky and temperature above freezing but ground and riverbank frozen hard. Trotting maggots through the deeper pools. One good grayling caught and another hooked and lost. River fishable with level 0.32m at Titley Mill and running clear. Fished for about 5 hours.

Cold bright day to start, going cloudy and wet later in the day. River running nice and clear and a reasonable level. Had problems finding the fish to start but when I did they were of a better size than usual at this beat. I saw an otter and cormorants, so that may explain the lack of smaller fish?

Very very cold day, minus 4c when I started at 10. Water crystal clear and quite low. Grayling both caught in the bathing pool whilst euro nymphing.

Midwinter madness! -4c when I turned up at 9am. Ice freezing in the rod rings for the first hour. Managed to locate a few shoals of grayling, had 2 or 3 from each spot before bites stopped. Trotting maggots accounted for most with 4 grayling and an OOS trout on the euro nymph fly outfit. Lyepole is a beautiful beat, difficult access in places with barbed wire everywhere and limited fishing with no wading allowed at the moment. Having said that enough to go at for a winters day if levels are ok. I fished at 0.56 on the Byton gauge and it was a good height and clear. I called it a day after a snow shower slowed sport in the afternoon. Overall a bitterly cold day but rewarding. You can always rely on grayling when it gets sub zero!

Cold but enjoyable even without finding any grayling. Interesting to see that no grayling have been caught here since February!
River was running quite low and clear. Saw 3 kingfishers which is always a delight and hope they had more luck.
0830-1430 session.

Regrettably I lost a none retrievable nymph in a willow directly opposite the down stream car parking place - personal pet hate is seeing lost kit on the bank so apologies.

Blanked - Tough day with some unexpected heavy flurries of snow. The Kingfisher looked rather amused at my shivering and my feeble attempts. Regardless, enjoyed the escape before busyness of 2026 begins! Happy New Year all - Tight lines!

-4 degrees when we arrived and didn't rise above 1 degree in the day. We fished with meat and maggots. Moving through the upper swims until midday and then moving downstream but to no avail. The bright sunshine along with the water temp killed the fishing with not a knock between us all day. Beautiful stretch of the Wye in the most stunning of locations.
