Took my 2 young boys fishing on the wye for the first time and managed to bag them a few. Conditions pretty bang on slightly up, falling and coloured. Barbel up to 7lb and chub to just under 5. All bites on peperami

4 Barbel, 4 Chub

All of the barbel were caught between 12.30 and 3 pm. Neither of us had a bite either before or after this window of activity.

The fish were in excellent condition the biggest weighing exactly 10 pounds.

5 Barbel

Didn't think I was going to be able to fish today as the banks and swims are very treacherous right now, some underwater still.
Did manage to get a rod out for a couple of hours though and had 2 Chub and a few missed pulls.
If you are thinking of fishing the lower end of the beat be very careful as the grounds got very soft in the parking area.

2 Chub

River down to 1.2m this morning, but still with colour. Water temp up a tad to 10.1. I had another 3 barbel today and Steve who couldn't fish yesterday had 4. Fish between 4 and 7.08. Again ground bait feeders and pellet hookbaits. By the end of the day the river was on the rise again.

Only one small chub river started to rise again and holding bottom was difficult

Better conditions than yesterday, level dropped by around 1 meter.

2 Barbel

The river had plenty of water running, so most fishing was near side out of the main flow. Fished pellet and meat on the hook, with either paste or PVA bag on the lead. Only 3 chub 1 from beat 4 in the morning and the other 2 came from the very top of beat 1.
Always a beautiful area, same there wasn't a few more bites.

Not my day. Lost the 2 Barbel I hooked, but did get a few Chub to save the day.

River conditions seemed spot on and the one and only fish of the day came on the first cast - high expectations for the rest of the day !

Unfortunately, the rest of the day was very quiet with little to no action at all.

Second time we've fished this beat and have seen others comment that its upkeep has gone down hill. I can't say that I saw any difference between the two visits (first in 2024) and think it all looks great and well maintained.

The gates were wide open (/non existent) when we got there, so very easy to get in and out. Hard standing immediately in the gates for parking.
