A quick 2.5 hours ad I’d fished another beat in the morning. As the description says some of the easiest wading I’ve come across on the Wye. There is a LOT of water to cover and I only scratched the surface in the time I had.

The path running along the beat which is gated of to wildlife was beautifully crafted/benched into the side of the slope with a lovely light touch. Personally it made the experience of fishing that much more enjoyable. Thank you to the land owners.

Nothing caught and no bites. Fishes the gravel island just to the left of the fishing hut.
Ledger, trotting with maggots and some lure fishing.
River was still running at a fast pace.

Very nice day on the river. Long winter session 0815-1500 on the water. Caught a stunning osbt (estimated at comfortable over 45cm) early on then nothing else all day! Fished the whole beat from the bottom boundary to the water works without even a knock.
Very cold east wind. Gin clear water.

The river is mostly easily accessible throughout this beat with some excellent looking pools and runs. Going on the incredible amounts of otter prints along the sandy beaches there must be a good amount of fish here..

A very enjoyable day even without finding a winter grayling and a definite return is required for another try!

River finally at a fishable level at around 0.4 on the Abernant gauge. Nothing caught or seen. Only fished the lower part of the beat as the stile is broken and the ditch beyond it full of brambles. The river wasn't quite low enough to safely wade around the fence.

The barbel were quiet today with the only action coming from a Chub. Steady river level (1.2m @ Ross), 5c with cold north wind. Nice day to be out, highlight being the huge red kite that circled high above.
