The beat was beautiful, the water was crystal clear and there was glorious sunshine, unfortunately the fish did not appreciate the weather as much as I did. Didn't see any fish all day (11am-5pm) managed too hook two small trout and land one out of a deep hole just past a small waterfall on a pheasant tail nymph. There were no notable hatches but there were lots of stoneflies scurrying about the rocks outside the rivers but none were quite ready to fly. Would recommend and will return next time I come to Wales.

Second visit to this beat and always an interesting water. Firstly came across a recently dead young sheep on the bankside. Informed a nearby house and later in the day, it was recovered. Weather was far better then the Saturday with a light wind and clear blue sky. Plenty of water to play with and Armies Pool had a lot to offer. Again soft hackle MB nymph took to the
interest of the Trout. Lost two good fish but after letting pool rest came back and picked up two to the net. A very small Salmon Parr took a spider pattern on the dropper. Water very clear but with some colour. A lot of deeper water at Gravelly Pool and care is needed, as I did take a small fall but only a wet arm.
