Lovely stretch on beat 4. River was up a metre and coloured made trotting very difficult. Most fish on a normal feeder approach with meat. Some chub caught on trotted meat

Caught 5 barbel to 9lb 7oz, all in the morning. Went quiet approaching midday. Moved around trying to locate some fish, but swims are limited and some require maintenence to be able to fish. Overall still a great day's fishing.

Conditions were atrocious. Weed in volumes not seen for a long time. Tried various swims but just didn’t have the skills to catch anything. Didn’t help that you couldn’t really present a bait. Thanks to Andy and Rob for their generosity- sorry both, all I caught was a suntan!

River too high to fish. First time at this beat so walked the areas. Fished three eddies.

River low and clear, less canoe/kayak traffic than the previous day. Showery in the morning which made the banks very slippery, so I stuck to the swims that were easier to access. Meat and pellets on the hook and feeder. Bites were at the start and end of the day (4pm). Had to leave at 5pm to make the long trip home, otherwise would probably have nabbed more fish. Chub was around 4lb, had two barbel around the 6lb mark and the first barbel of the day was the biggest but I didn't weight it - I guessed 9lb ish at the time but the more I look at it I think it could have been a double. Lovely day.

Enjoyable couple of hours fishing.
Not a great deal of fly water for salmon fishing at this height (v low). Only really a couple of flicks.
Spent an enjoyable few hours nymphing for trout, one caught c 1lb and one lost.
