1 WBT at 1lb plus 4 smaller. Weather conditions good if a little windy and the river very dark. All caught on nymphs, nothing rising to dry. Saw 2 good splashes from rising salmon on far bank at Alexander stretch below the layby entrance. Good easy fishing here but more difficult above and below this stretch.

River was at normal level and running clear.
We fished this beat from around 8:30am to 11:30am on the last morning of a 3 day trip fishing Wye and Usk Foundation beats.
Sadly we were unable to tempt fish with any method we tried, dries, wets or nymphs. We saw no signs of fish and decided to knock it on the head and start the drive home a little earlier than originally planned.
The section below the parking layby is quite easy to fish and wade however the lower and upper sections are somewhat more demanding and probably require a little more fishing skill and confidence in your wading. No fish seen and none caught.

River at a good level with clear visibility. Weather was overcast with periods of sunshine and light winds.
Fish caught between Abernant Stream and Lady Alexander's Catch on a variety of flies, such as Klinkhammer, Waterhen Bloa and Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear.

A cold and partly rainy day, no rises seen at all and no interest in any nymphs offered! Blank day sadly. Enjoyed the usual warm welcome at the Seven Stars.

Spey casting (both double and single) using various established types of salmon flies proved unsuccessful.
Bright sunny conditions prevailed and despite the lack of fish a most enjoyable time was had by all.

Some lovely water. Only had a few hours in the morning. Had one of the top it was nice to see a few fish rising. The rest were on nymphs though. Quite a few takes on the bottom of this beat. Would have love to have had more time.

Seth at WUF suggested Abernant as a good beat for high water and he was spot on. This is a beautiful stretch of water and almost all suitable to fly fishing. Sadly, no salmon seen but I fish through the tail of Abernant Catch where I caught four trout in quick succession - not much of a feat on the salmon rod I know but one of around 3lbs put up a great fight. An enjoyable day notwithstanding the 3 and half hour drive!

River conditions were good - slight colouring of the water. I was using a black and silver dry fly for sea trout and caught the brown trout on it late on in the day.

Typical spring day - bright, breezy and fresh. River at a really good height for this beat, water carrying a tinge of colour and predictably cold for March.
Apart from a dense, 5 minute flurry of March Browns at midday, little in the way of fly life. Just one rising fish in the 4 hours spent on the water.
Managed 2 pretty wbt of around 10" and one oos grayling of around 15". All caught on weighted nymphs.
As ever, good to be casting a fly after a long, wet winter.
