Fishing was slow, only decent looking pegs were the middle fast water ones. Water was warm and it was sunnier than anticipated.
Couple of non-fishing points:
- the parking at the woodland area is not accessible, gate is chained so you have to park on the bank to access anywhere near this section;
- the field across the whole beat has a herd of cows in it with plenty of mother/calf and also a bull. Bull got a little excited to see us but they then ignored us. Beware if you are not happy with cattle…

Only fished 10 til 2 due to the ridiculous volume of canoe/kayak/paddleboard traffic. We're all used to it but yesterday was off the scale, as confirmed by an instructor on one of the boards who said it was the busiest day she'd known since lockdown. Hey ho, better luck next time, roll on Sept.

6 decent Chub on a slow day. Fished into dusk, no sign of Barbel today. Lovely day on the river. For info at time of writing….top end of the wood has a swim on the top croy and one below but it’s very overgrown up there so recommend travelling light as there’s not much in between. Lots of nettles too so wear long trousers. Meadow has good swims but fewer than previous years - particularly around the wood entrance. Take a rope and spike for some of these.
I saw a report about problems parking in the wood but can confirm it’s clear for two cars no probs.

First time on this beat. And unfortunately did disappoint. Water level at its lowest all week changing weather and humid after the heat wave. Tried 3 swims but only managed 3 Chub, biggest 3lb and an eel. Tried floating. Usual baits hair rigged also rolling meat. Pub lunch at the Inn on the Wye then back for afternoon and evening fishing. Most canoeing persons were well mannered and having. fun. Unfortunately a group of Romanians decided to cause trouble whilst with the hired canoes. Causing damage to fishing tackle and wanting confrontation. It was very deliberate. Again today no Barbel. Third day on the trot no Barbel.
