East cold wind made it difficult, no hatch, a few on the nymph.

A fine-looking beat, but rather quiet - a trickle of olives, fish not taking the nymph it seems. Too cool? Too early? Too late? Too high? Too low?

Difficult day with sporadic oncers. One decent 17" fish that wrapped me in some re-bar on the river bed twice. Still a fun day as always.

Much enjoyed our day. A 6lb salmon was seen on the beat.

I grilse only 3lbs from Butts pool on size 12 black and silver fly. A very large fish lost spinning with single hook line broken last Wednesday at Dan-y-Park in coloured water before major rise. Fish estimated at late 20's.
