Blanked. Fished groundbait feeder and pellet, tried a piece of peperami on hair also. I snagged up on weed a fair bit and lost a couple of feeders. I am a fairly inexperienced angler so put my blank down to that. Tried a few swims but should have watched Deano’s Diary on the stretch before going as I wasn’t sure how to fish the island swim. Having watched that again now I realise I would have probably found barbel there. Beautiful piece of river, will be back! Thanks land owner and Wye and Usk Foundation. Loved the day despite no fish. Learnt a lot.

What a difference a day makes - nothing caught on the same beat yesterday, but after 12-15 inches of rain last night, 5 barbel 4-8lb,and 2 baby barble 20-24 ounces, plus 1 2lb chub, all caught in the afternoon/ early evening - last fish 7.45pm when regret I had to leave.

As expected not great conditions, but still an enjoyable day out even though no fish caught. Several knocks on hair meat but likely these was an eel(s)
