Mixed sun and cloud, 17c, river at good level. Nymphing with pheasant tail at ripple just this side of bridge.A few Mayfly hatching. 3 fish caught to 2lbs, 1 taken.
Good access on a lovely beat. Witnessed large bird of prey attacking ducklings on the river. Second lovely stay with Joy and Doug at the Travellers Rest less than 1 mile from beat. Ideal. Third year booking through the Foundation, thanks for a professional and efficient way to access some beautiful locations.

Good days fishing, weather ruined the mornings fishing but few fish rising late in the evening. 1 wild brown caught on small klinkhammer, few others hooked but not landed. Nice beat but access little tricky in spots with high banks.

In the morning, at the tail of Blue Pool (on the bend), massive quantities of fly swarming: gnats and sedges mostly, then the wind got its act together and cleared the air! Although there were rises, the fish were playing hard to get, until late afternoon, when three fish were taken in quick succession, on a dry Adams, close into the far bank....best fish was 1.5lbs. We saw 2 salmon jump out, one in Blue Pool, and a large fish in Chain Pool, near the top end.

Strong cold wind, river very clear. Large numbers of sedges and gnats, plus a few mayfly and olives. Fish rising but very reluctant to take a surface fly. Six trout caught by Czech nymph method; one of 2.25lbs, one of 2lbs, two of 1lb and two smaller. Hats off to the Foundation for putting in several substantial sets of steps, making life much easier. Anyone visiting for the first time, look for signs of trampled grass, to find these as they are becoming a little hidden by grass etc, but are located, near heads and tails of pools.

For unforseen reasons we only fished for an hour around midday so unsurprising no fish were caught! Beautiful spot nonetheless.

Hoping to repeat last years's good day. Omens OK, warm 19C, river good height. But fly life scarce. Short rise in morning, but Dog's Body, C de C olive emerger and PTN all refused. No reaction to wet flies in riffles. Salmon showed in Chain Pool at lunchtime. At 5.30pm retired to The White Hart Inn in Talybont, and comforted by their excellent hospitality.

Trout taken on a mixture of dries and nymphs, best caught was 39cm on a size 18 black gnat. Saw a much larger fish cruising the margin late in the day approximately 3lb but it wasn't playing!
