Way off the mark today, tried deep bugs, shallow bugs ,multiple bugs in almost every gutter and pool.
Didn't have a take all day between the pair of us. The gooseanders looked as if they've had a great Christmas, like to get a tracker on one of them just to point us in the right direction!!!
Anyway rods and tackle safely packed away until March. Happy new year to all at WUF, and everyone else I suppose!

Great day. Most of the fish were caught at the top end of the beat. Great views of the Otter.

Just a couple of hours on the river today. 0.58m on the Cilmery gauge, a bit windy, drizzle & 10 degrees C. All fish caught on a tungsten bead, present tail on a long leader. Wasn't too wet when i arrived so i parked by the church, by the time i had finished fishing the field was saturated and very slippy so definitely head the parking instructions regarding this.

Grayling caught from 2 pools only..other usually productive pools seemed devoid of fish. Last time out in November I had a very distinctive grayling with an edge of its gill cover missing, hasn't learned caught again today and in very good nick.

Better conditions for the angler today but the water was fairly coloured. The best grayling went just over 1lb 8oz but once again trout were present in every swim and were unavoidable. Fished the lower end of the stretch from Grandslam down, every swim tried produced.

Miserable conditions with freezing rain and 40 mph gusts fairly constant. Far from ideal for trotting and most wouldn't of got out the car but we were rewarded with fairly constant sport. Brownies beat the grayling to the bait in virtually every swim we tried and at times it was a fish a chuck. Trout caught was an estimate, likely more.

6 x grayling 6-17 inches, 1 x out of season trout 16 inches, trotting. Hard work to find fish this morning in what was very raw weather - just above freezing and with a bitterly cold wind. The river was clearing, but still rather high. However, there was the odd individual grayling to be found here and there and a couple of them were good ones. The post-spawning trout attacked double maggot while it was being wound back upstream.
