Rising river and washed off by early afternoon I am afraid

Water was high and fishing was not so easy. But we know Irfon is a fantastic river and we managed to land some fishes.
Several 35-40cm graylings. Trouts were 20-25 cm.

51 x grayling to 16 inches, 7 x out of season trout (small). A mixture of methods, but nymphs generally outfishing the dry fly. Delightful sunshine and autumn scenery, but few fish rising naturally. A pleasant chat with 3 Belgian visitors who come to fish the Irfon every year.

Had a good morning on the upper half of the stretch, fishing the duo but most of the fish took the brown Klinkhammer in the gravelly runs. The fish were mostly small, around 1/2 pound but one was a beauty of around 1.5 pounds. After lunch the river rose and coloured up, effectively killing off the fishing so I left earlier than planned. It was lovely to be back on this stretch and heartening to see the grayling in evidence.

Another great day on the Irfon, I do like this river, seems to be fishing realy well. All caught on dry fly, Although not many rises, just cast the dry blind and they come up. All the fish usual 8 to 10 inches except one graylig about a 1.5lb

booked friday tea time with levels near perfect arrived saturday and river was up a foot and quite coloured . tried heavy nymphs , dries unweighted nymphs and the grayling were just not having it . i have fished here twice now and both times rain the night before has ruined what should be a productive day. third time lucky maybe

Cold day, but river in great condition most fish taken using heavy nymphs and for the last hour or so on dry fly. Great day.

River in better condition than last days. Managed to catch 8 fish on dry flies. Biggest trout was 40 cm. Great experience last five days fishing in South Wales. Will be back for sure and visit this beat again.
