After a very cold start to the day, the sun managed to punch through the valley mist and provide us with beautiful sunshine for the rest of the day. 4 beautiful grayling to @40cm with several missed. All fish were taken throughout the mid section of the beat, and all fell to weighted bugs. This was a great day out, on a great beat provided by a great organisation. I will be back as soon as I can. Many thanks to the Foundation and Charles Picton.

Fished 3 consecutive days 19th to 21st October. Covered lower part of the beat on 19th and 20th. 14 grayling over the 2 days all caught on small beadhead pheasant tail and apricot tag nymphs - best fish approx 1.75lbs with a few others around the pound mark. Day 3 was spent on the top part of the beat - 2 nice grayling both pound plus and 2 similar size brown trout. Small pheasant tail nymph and upstream black spider did the trick.
This is a lovely beat on an excellent river. Big thanks to Charles Picton for his invaluable adice on the first morning.

11 fish in total plus plenty of other action. Biggest fish 1 3/4lb. Fin perfect fish on goldhead from gutter at very top of beat. 4 other fish over a pound and the rest 10 inches. Fish rising to pale wateries and fairly large sedges all afternoon in the riffled water and bodies of all pools; responding to klinkhammers and red-tags. Finished off as the sun set at the glaslyn, with a solid fish of well over the pound from the pool tail. Cracking fishing as always.

3 very small trout on small goldheads, no grayling caught,
cold wet and windy, with lots of leaves blown off the trees making presentation difficult. Advice etc from foundation was first class.

Booked the day prior through the Booking Office which was helpful as always. Arrived on the day and was introduced to the water by Mr. Picton, who's information proved invaluable due to the length of the beat. River was high. Hardly any fly life was observable and consequently almost nothing was rising. That said, I have no doubt over the abundance of resident fish. Managed to take two brown trout to 16 inches and a chub of just over a foot all on a klinkhammer. I rose a few more, but failed to hook them. A perfectly enjoyable day on a lovely stretch of river that one could easily spend a week. I look forward to returning.

There was a hard frost last night with the air temperature still showing 1C when I arrived. The river looked in good condition though. Dispite a few sunny spells, there was little evidence of insect activity through the day and just the occasional fish rising - to what I never worked out. I fished the top end of the fishery for the first time today. Five grayling and one trout were caught; all around the 10" mark, except for one grayling about 14". Two of the grayling came to dry fly, everything else to a ptn.
