I spent a very enjoyable 5 hours upstream of the bridge and was able to fish most of the river with various casting techniques.
Caught a few on nymphs and most on a small black fly.
Half a dozen reasonable size.

As always, a lovely day at Lyepole. One of my favourite places to fish. Weather was perfect/ Trout and Grayling were interested all day. I managed to get 2 lovely medium sized trout on the dry plus two grayling the same way. My friend also had a great day, with 3 Grayling and a Trout almost landed that shook the line off. Lost in the trees in this glorious place, cant wait to come back again next year.

A lovely afternoon; the river low, but fish rising. I caught one small grayling on a dry fly and lost another fish, unidentified. I had taken a friend along to teach him the elements of river fly fishing. He had a really good time and even rose a fish, though he had never cast a fly before. A really enjoyable beat, though in many places you need a short rod and a skilful cast.

Nil caught. A couple of splashy rises but fish were easily spooked due to river being so low.

Grayling from ~12 to 18cm, trout ~15cm. Hooked a trout 20+ cm in the top pool. Jumped out of the water twice and was gone.
Two buzzards overhead and a pheasant in the grass.

Weather and river looked promising and in the first 30 yards of Lyepole I caught 3 fish (1 grayling and 2 trout) using French Leader and nymphs. Unfortunately catch rate rapidly declined and it became a bit of a struggle after that. Above the bridge switched to the duo and caught one more trout on a PTN, however after a savage take by a trout on the sedge indicator I was using, I moved on to dries and caught one more grayling and two trout on sedges. Only two small hatches of fly seen and it was during these that the dries were taken. Overall a good day’s fishing.

A delightful day on the river discovering a new beat. Perfect weather, some mayflies around and ensconced amongst the trees for the day. But to business! 4 trout taken in total to dry flies. The first on the upper beat after the first right hand bend. Eventually took a hawthorn fly as the cast drifted down on the current. Two then taken on the lower beat about 50 metres past the cottage. Both on a daddy/mayfly style pattern, large outline size 12 hook. The first of the two slashed at the fly as soon as it hit the surface. The fourth was hiding under some plants near to a small in flow. Taken on a French partridge mayfly after observing him taking a small mayfly minutes before. All fish roughly 6/7inches. Beautiful condition and put up a good fight. A brilliant day - will be back.
