Was hoping for a hatch today given the warm weather during the day but last nights frost took care of that ! Water was very cold and running at low levels ... didn’t see a single rise. Tungsten head nymphs fished in the deeper pools on a longer leader worked for a few grayling but no trout showed up. Gorgeous day and wonderful to be out fishing !

2 anglers. Water already close to summer lows, v clear, no real hatch to speak of. One regular riser seen all day, turned out to be a decent oos grayling, took a s20 comparadun. All other fish on variety of nymphs, s14-16.

Lovely location, sunny, warm day, abundant bug life but no fish rising or seen otherwise. Was checking potential trout spots and accidentally hooked a grayling.
Fished a klinkhammer and black bead hares ear nymph duo.

Out of season grayling everywhere !!!!! Kept moving to leave them to the amorous work but I think they kept following me ! Literally lost count , fish from 6 inches to about a pound . 6 brownies , one a lovely fish of about a pound .
Fished in glorious sunshine and a massive prolonged blizzard !!!!
An otter had clearly been having its fill of crayfish as well .
Great to see so many juvenile fish but worrying that the big grayling that used to be here seem to have disappeared .

Wonderful beat but a sunny, cool & windy day. Not a single rise seen but fishing a deep tungsten nymph with a small black spider dropper produced a few trout (mostly to the spider). Beautiful countryside and mostly easyish wading - with care. Loved it !

Nothing caught but some very good tugs and one got off the hook before I could get the net out. Spider patterns with a nymph on the end. Water slightly coloured, beautiful spring day. Mink spotted on the bank.

There were a few fish rising in the steadier paced sections, which is always a nice bonus when fishing in November. The oos trout were all 8 or 9", fat, healthy and did not appear to have spawned yet. Two of them came to a dry.
I couldn't find the larger grayling though - all four were 3 inches, an encouraging sign of course.
The river was at 1ft 6" on the Byton gauge and pushing through, probably about as high as you want it for Lyepole.
A very enjoyable, mild autumn day in the scenic Lugg valley.
