Fancied a few hours nymphing today. Started at about 11a.m and fished till 2.30pm all grayling took tungsten beaded nymphs with about half taking the point and half taking the dropper. Size wise, several between 8 -12 inches and a few up to 16 inches. Lost several to hook pulls also, one of which looked and felt near the 3lb mark. All trout between 8-14 inches. Water levels near on summer flow and once 60 yards past the bridge the pace of water drastically slackens. All in all a cracking few hours!! could of been more for them hook pulls, oh well!

A size 16 Hares Ear Beaded Nymph proved to be the perfect fly on this pleasant outing at Lyepole. The weather wasn't ideal for fishing, being the hottest day of the year so far! But river conditions were very good, with the faster, deeper sections supplying all the fish caught. The majority of the fish caught (11 grayling and 4 trout) were around the 1lb mark or less, but 3 of the grayling were around the 1.75 lb mark and provided a good challenge to land. This is a beautiful stretch of river, but be aware that the bankside is overgrown along the majority of the beat, so you will need to do some deep wading, or beat your way through vegetation to get at all the fishable swims.

Lovely warm summers evening. Just fished for a few hours late in the day. Large hatch of mayfly and several fish rising. Missed several and lost a few flies in the bushes. Caught a small brown trout and a beautiful grayling.
Wonderful and magical stretch of river. Waders a must.

Lovely beat & fantastic scenery but caught the river slightly up but coloured with visibility about 12 inches . contacted one or two and was broken by something decent . Banks mainly wooded making access difficult and with the river coloured was not confident on wading to deep for our first visit. lots of otter signs, no rising fish on our day due to no fly hatches = no fish.

Arrived at lunchtime after a spur of the moment decision to go fishing after seeing the glorious Spring sunshine in the morning. The river was more full than up and carrying a nice turquoise tint, the sun was still shining although it was to become a little duller as the day went on with a temp. of 10C. While the sun was shining there were a few Olives coming off so I desperately searched for a rising fish or two but sadly saw no surface activity all the while I was there, wanting to put a bend in my rod I opted to fish the deeper pools with weighted nymphs. I took two nice oos Grayling, one 15 inches and a small trout. By now it was duller and colder and the little bit of fly life that had been present earlier in the afternoon had now disappeared, I was getting hungry too so packed up and made my way home. This is a glorious place to be and I shall be back when it's a bit warmer, even if I did rip my waders again on the barbed wire!

River levels were about right with good colour. Surprisingly not a sniff. Did see an otter though.
