After cloudy morning another scorching day. After the disappointments of no fish showing (and very little fly hatching)earlier in the week on the Hindwell, Lugg & Teme, at last there was some activity to encourage hopes:rewarded by one trout of c10ozs and numerous small trout, all on klinkhammer or dry pheasant tail(all returned).
What a beautiful spot!

Had a fantastic day. I must of hit the river at a good time - the water was only slightly coloured and pushing through a tad so I didn't know what to expect, especially with the amount of rain we had the night before.
I started at the middle and worked nymphs upstream, the response from the fish was fantastic, fishing pool after pool connecting with fin perfect wild brown trout. The air stayed cool all day with a trickle of pale wateries and blue winged olives. I saw one mayfly and also what looked like a large brook dun. I think had it been a few degrees warmer there would have been alot more hatching fly.
Turning over rocks I saw some huge heptagenid nymphs which could be the large brook dun, also an abundance of baetis nymphs and caddis. The river is in superb condition. there was a rise to the bwo duns in the evening....
A wonderful day I will not forget. Thank you Wye and Usk Foundation.

Stayed at The Croft B & B at Lyonshall which was excellent.
Unfortunately the river was in spate and had to use rover tickets to fish the upper wye and Irfon.

No fish caught. Fished from 12 - 3pm and saw no activity at all. Very little fly life visible and no fish moving. Nice bit of river though - will probably visit again later on in the year. Water was visibly a foot or so low already by the look of things.

No fish caught. Arrived in the evening and fished for a couple of hours. River very low. Steady hatch and a few fish rising, but almost impossible to get into range for a cast as they were so easily spooked in these conditions.

A great days fishing. Water levels very low although slightly improved after some rain a few days before.
Having only recently started fly fishing this beat was quite a challenge. A steady trickle of mayfly through the afternoon but not much rising. Fished mostly new Zealand rig. Three browns caught all to a small nymph, the best 9-10" the others around 5".

Absolutely loads of trout up to 10 inches, all caught on green or black Klink's fished upstream, better fish caught in the faster water. Felt I could have caught more on the upper half on nymphs but enjoy the dry better. Good sized, fin perfect fish a plenty on the lower half of the beat. Great day, will be back!

We fished throughout the day from 8.30am. Two rods, one experienced at this game, he used a self built 6' cane rod, the other a beginner (that's me) a 7'6" carbon fibre rod. He netted nine Brown Trout, two of 12"+. I drew a blank but thoroughly enjoyed the experience watching Dippers and a Nuthatch. It was bright, warm and still. We both fished with small weighted nymphs. I've much to learn - but that's beauty of the challenge.

Beautiful weather. River very low. Fish were rising sporadically despite the abundance of insect life. They were also very spooky -- no more than one cast possible. Managed to rise a few, but did not hook any. Finally, an 8' rod was arguably too long for the tight conditions.
