Tenkara Day, accompanied by Roger Smith, this return is for me only, the other anglers will submit their own returns. Started fishing in light rain about 12.00pm, finished at 4pm in full rain. River remained clear and was not high.
Grayling were in superb condition and both were good sized - filled my scoop net, weighed approx 1.5lbs. Both took a size 12 barbless partridge and orange.

Myself and three friends attended a Tenkara fishing experience based at Caer Beris Manor Hotel. We all enjoyed our weekend immensely and will probably book it again next year. Although I only had one fish to hand I had several long distance releases!

On this day we started a bit later as planned and met with a local guide to give us some guidance (since one of us was a true 'beginner') at the footbridge parking area. After making acquaintance, we decided to move to the lower beat parking and to start fishing upstream, especially because the wading just behind the food bridge is very difficult.
We really got going when it was already 11.15. No much fish activity we could see and I started nymphing. Some half mile more upstream I saw a nice channel and there was frequently salmon activity. It looked very promising but I was on the wrong bank of this channel and it took me more than 20 minutes to get at the other bank at a good position to wade it.
Arriving there, I noticed some surface activity and I put on a dry, hook size 18, light color "in suface" fly (parachute type, and also small CDC flies). I managed to catch 7 grayling, one around 40cm, one around 25cm, the others around 30cm. I stayed there till dusk (16.00), because surface activity was still there.
My companion with the guide took 4 grayling, one around 43cm the other under 30cm, two on dries, and two on a wet fly.
Great day, lovely beat.

Good water, level rises after rain. No surface activity, sunny, windless. Hard to find a fish all day long, one hour before dusk fish were more active, saw a few salmon jumping.

Another new beat for me today. Parked by the foot bridge and started walked up on that side of the river. I just couldn't find anywhere to access the water though. Tried on the other side of the bridge and eventually found some limited access but it was very difficult. This compounded with wind and lots leaves in the water made fishing quite challenging. No sign of Grayling and only a few Salmon Parr to show for my strenuous efforts. I think a more detailed map might have been useful and a few signs dotted around to give some confidence to someone new to the beat.

Poor day, river rising and coloured due to persistent rain overnight and early morning so deep nymphing the order of the day unfortunately without much luck. Only one small out of season brown trout 8 ins taken, few fish missed, still always good to be on the river on such a beautiful beat. Access to river on top beat much easier if you cross footbridge at car park and walk down the lane to the right bank, good directions on beat map.

Good day with above average temparatures so plenty of hatches, mostly pale watery´s and dark olives, some sedge. 4 grayling taken on cdc emerger, largest to 1 1/2 pounds. Small out of season trout to about 1/2 pound taken on weighted nymph. Water a good height and a lovely time of year to be out on the river, even the sun put in an appearance early afternoon which triggered some good hatches and plenty of rises! Many fish missed probably due to my slow reactions but grayling can be tricky to hook on the dry no matter how quick you react! Great day once again!

River low and low cloud all day with not many signs of fish. Tried dry fly but no luck, managed one grayling on a nymph.
