A very wet day but a good day of fishing. 8 grayling between us, 4 of which in excess of 15" and one 18"+, all caught on small Adams.

A wonderful day on an excellent beat. Started fishing mid morning with nymphs, Czech style, however nothing doing. The river was running crystal clear making what is normally challenging wading somewhat easier. At midday there was a hatch and a few fish started to rise, I switched to dry fly, the "OB" Red tag (thank you Oliver) and the first fish was a 17 inch Grayling. The rise was very small but, as often with the Ladies, underneath was a large fish.
The occasional upstream breeze put a temporary stop to the rises. Two more Ladies fell to the Red Tag, one almost as large as the first. Then all of a sudden they lost interest and it was only after a change of fly to a Grey Duster that another fish was taken. The rises stopped at about 4pm as is a tap had been turned off !
Returned to Nymphing but no interest. Stopped fishing at 6pm
So a total of four Grayling to the hand, with four more hooked and lost after a tussle, a great day!
A BIG Thank you to Seth for his, as usual, very helpful advice.

Started well by leaving my selection of wets & bugs on the kitchen table, so my dries with 4 or 5 GH nymphs would just have to manage in the wind. 3wbt to 16ins, 8 grayling to 19ins. The GHHE salvaged the day.
