No luck today. River was low despite the drop of rain we had a few days ago.

River still low despite 2 damp days preceeding. A cloudy day with showers passing through on a downstream wind. Some fish hitting caddis in the streamy runs on arrival and managed a couple on a dry sedge and missed 3 more slashing rises including a substantial fish before the activity petered out from early afternoon.

At last some rain and cloud , despite the low water the fish were rising to sporadic hatches of olives .All fish caught were a
pound or over ln perfect condition . One brownie taken to eat . Overall a great day on the river .

Initially cloudy, then hot and sunny. River was low as I have seen it- 2 nice sized trout, 1 smaller.
Caught with euro nymph rig.

Caught one small brownie on wet fly in the fast run at the top of the beat. River conditions were good with a good flow and clear water. Weather conditions were good and all seemed perfect to begin with to catch plenty of fish. Alas I only caught one small fish as the main reasons being that the beat in my opinion is mostly unfishable because of the steep bank all along the beat and deepwater which was unwadable. Also much of the beat was slow flowing deep water.
I feel this beat does not represent value for money and would not fish it again.

Any rain which fell in Wales over the last week seems to have missed the Usk. River very low. Dull and overcast with a brisk breeze with squalls on occasions. No fly hatch during the day so fished PTN in the faster water. Missed several takes. Perhaps should have stayed later - but the Lions game was calling!

The day was baking hot and the river is very low. Not ideal conditions to put it mildly. We fished on through 25 degree heat and cloudless skies. The sun on the water was relentless. None of this explains why having tempted a fish up to a dry fly in about 6 inches of water, I failed to land it.

No matter we had a lovely day sitting on the river bank watching the river and speculating on how good the fishing would be with the right amount of water and a bit less sun. Just goes to show there is much more to a days fishing than catching fish although a fish would have been a nice bonus.
