River had risen bit but conditions were still pretty good. My first visit to this beat so it was a bit of a recky day. Some lovely fly water but sadly no fish seen or caught

Fished the length of the Chapel catch. River up and pushing through, but decent clarity. Should really have been spinning as despite the fastest sinking set up I had it was still barely 2ft down on the inside. No sign of any salmon. A few March Browns spluttered off around 12.15 but nothing rose to them.

First outing this year. River at exactly two feet on the Llanstephan gauge and running perfectly clear. From noon to about 4pm no fish were contacted but then DD had a a couple of light takes followed by a small grayling to hand. JD then had a few positive bites before landing a 12” grayling. Fish were more active for the next hour and both anglers contacted and lost larger fish including one that looked about 18” as it broke the surface (and leader). Both anglers were fishing weighted nymphs on point with an unweighted fly on a dropper and it was the droppers that seemed to attract the fishes attention (with JD’s grayling coming to a Hancock’s Pet).

Unfortunately, we didn't get to fish (annoying as we had paid for the day). We went down to have a look but the river was totally blown out...

Did not fish...Ophelia turned the river into leaf soup. So ends the 2017 season.

Strange and slightly frustrating morning, at one point almost like an eclipse in eerie orange light as the storm came on and winds strengthened. Eventually packed up with nothing to report, two casts out of three requiring leaf removal, even using a single hook fly. That's me for migratory fish this year.
