1 x coloured cock salmon, 28 inches, from Chapel Catch on size 12 Black Pennell fished on the dropper. Again fishing small flies with a switch rod. We wanted rain and boy did we get it this afternoon. It was really pouring, but there came that magic half hour with the level lifted by a few inches, but before the river coloured, which brought a few residents on to the take.

Both taken in the same pool and both on a spinner. I'd not caught a pike before. It was like being stuck for 5 minutes before I realised it was a fish. The salmon was around 5lbs and I have a photo if you would like a copy.

First time fishing this beat and started from the middle of the beat via Farm with no problem with access. Conditions were fine with not too much wind and no rain. Had no luck in connecting with any fish. Found the river low in places but I have to say the Llangoed Pool is the most scenic part of the river and very deep. Saw fish rising but being a novice could not get my fly anywhere near them. Interesting beat with a lot to offer.
