No sign of any fish until the olives made an appearance, and when they did, the fish were tuned right in on them. Dry Fly Heaven for a couple of hours, 3 nice fish up to a one and a half pound returned, and a few more lost at the net.

Nice bit of water, quite a long beat. Fish moved to LDO, hatch started at 11:04 and ended at 14:35ish. Lots of fish moving in some of the bigger slower pools. Weather was warm (9 to 10 c) and the wind (north east) did not get up. Would definitely fish here again. fish rose to small cdc emergers.

1 trout 11" and another hooked and lost.
The snow fall cooled the river down on our arrival, and fly, and the number of rising fish increased each day.
I would also like to point out that the second parking place at Fenni Fach was not in a fit state to use due to ruts and wet conditions, and nor was the track unless in a 4x4. We spoke to the farmer who said he has asked the WUF to make this clear on the beat instructions. This may or may not be true, but I would certainly ask for the beat instructions and maps to be amended accordingly.

A fantastic opening day to the season and a pleasure to be guiding two good anglers.
We arrived at the beat in the middle of a snow shower and with snow on the top of Pen y Fan we were hopeful that we may catch. However, opening day is often a triumph of hope over experience.
The river was in stunning condition and the fish turned out to be obliging. The majority of the fish where caught just below the surface however a couple on dries really finished the day of well. There was a very sustained hatch of large dark olives that went on from midday until late afternoon by which time we were frozen solid and happy to have had such a great day. All the fish caught were in great condition and fought hard. Lets hope that this is the sign of the season to come.

A nice day and a great spot, using both fly and spinner, but neither sight nor sound of any fish. Still worth it.

Low river, lot of fly activity, felt I should have done better. Fish returned.

6 Brown trout. River very low and clear. Lots of trout skulking but not taking (lots of big ones). Also in one pool, 20 plus trout in a shoal swimming in circles (have they been stocked or are they distressed?). 2 Cormorants working the water. Hard day. Method: tiny dry fly.
WUF Note: To our knowledge no stocking has taken place upstream of Brecon Weir so it is likely these fish were stressed by low water and avian predators.
