Sadly a blank day. Overcast, chilly and rain at about 13.00. No fish showing although a small hatch at 14.00. However this is an absolutely wonderful beat and I shall be back as soon as possible. First time I have booked on-line and everything - directions etc - worked perfectly.

Nothing caught - spent a couple of hours working the pools mid-beat, but total lack of rises was slightly dis-heartening!

I caught no fish! There was no activity in the morning, but a small hatch of iron blue occurred around lunchtime and around 6-8 trout started rising. I failed will all!

Both anglers blanked. Nice looking stretch of river but no real sign of any fish just yet. Will look to return when the weather improves.

Nothing caught I'm afraid. Very nice day, a bit cold to start (4 degrees) but got to 12 later on. Water was reasonably high/good. No rising fish, and although many spots felt 'fishy' I had no takes at all. Used march brown nymphs, grhe nymphs and pheasants tail of different sizes. Across and down, upstream etc. there was a hatch of March Browns, and a reasonably big one too (at times 6 or more passing by) and still no rises. I walked the whole of the beat from bottom to top. If I did not know better I would say there were no fish!! However I think the temp and weather change towards high pressure was to blame - that's how I'm dealing with it any way!

What a splendid location; range of environments, utter peace and quiet, friendly welcome at the parking site and other rods.
Lovely day spent, a couple of early bites without any fish landed. We'll return in the next season.

First time here on this mainly slabs/gutters/rocky-bottomed beat. A few upwings during the day including pale wateries, but hardly any rising fish. Wasn't able to raise any non-risers with emergers nor find any with nymphs. Had two 12" and one 14" rising trout, taken on a HE emerger. Saw an otter and also three goosanders all of whom no doubt had a far more succesful days fishing than I did! Will report FEB sightings to the UUFA and to the AT's Cormorant Watch website (if these birds are residents, then not good news for the local trout population).

P.S. Spent the evening on the Gwent A. S. Ty Mawr beat above Abergavenny and had several trout on my Yellow May emerger - enough YMs coming off until about 8 p.m. to get the fish interested!

What a stunning part of the river! Unfortunately the water was low which made fishing very difficult and no fish were landed. We did hook into one briefly but the hook pulled. Saw some good fish (2lbs+) in the upper section and plenty of smaller browns. To sum up it is a beautiful section, and the scenery more than made up for the lack of fish.

Saw very few rises all day (on lower section). One fish hooked and lost on a klinkhammer. Some sections impossible to wade. Water very red/brown but clear. Booking system etc v.efficient
