10 x grayling 7-13 inches, 1 x out of season trout 19 inches, Sturdy's Fancy plus a couple of the grayling on Tungsten Hare's Ear. First time on this new beat and I managed to explore most of the double bank section. Much of it is very different from the typical Irfon, even being full of weed, and reminds me of Llandewi on the Ithon. As the start was rather cold I began with heavy nymphs, which weren't very effective and it was well into the afternoon when I began to notice a few rises - I had to slog back to the car and make up the dry fly rod which I had been too lazy to bring with me on the bank. The big trout was a surprise, sipping like a little grayling on a pool tail, took a size 16 Sturdy's Fancy and then was airborne like a rocket quite a few times as it dashed around. Unfortunately it was out of season of course. A disconcerting number of people arrived at the river to peer into pools looking for salmon.

Lovely new beat ( thanks WUF ) very easy wading, it was 0.45 on the gauge but I should imagine it would be fishable under almost any conditions. Didn't fish the very upper limit of the beat and couldn't find any way of getting to the lower section below the treatment works? Other reports are quite right about the fighting qualities of these fish, as I did pull out of three good fish, but none the less I had a very enjoyable day even though the weather wasn't perfect (damp and windy). grayling to 12" trout to 14"

DC & GC enjoyed a nice but windy day on this nice beat, The water was clear and still dropping but the downstream wind put paid to any fly life, so no fish rising. All fish taken on nymphs, had hoped for more grayling but the oos wbt meant at least we caught throughout the day.
Many thanks to the Colonel and W&U for access to this new beat.

Apologies for the late return....
A good day in awful conditions, we started fishing in light drizzle and finished in torrential rain. Very little surface activity but the fish came to nymphs and spiders.
A lovely stretch of mixed water, with interesting pools glides and runs.
Many Thanks to the Wye and Usk (and land owner) for continuing to introduce such quality waters to the scheme.

A lovely beat, with clear directions and a good parking spot within easy walking distance to the river. Water level and flow good for short line nymphing, but only caught one - the rest came to dry (#18 black gnat). As with most other returns, I will be back.

This is lovely piece of water but sadly water levels were too high to have any chance. Tried in vain for an hour but called it a day and headed home. My season seems to have been blighted by too much or too little water! Will definitely return here next season, looks a fine beat.

Having been washed off yesterday, I was hoping for a good day on this stretch of water. It was a cold day with a gale blowing downstream. I didn't see a fish or any insect life at all. Did look like a nice beat though.

Well this is a most welcome addition to the passport ! Thank you Colonel ! All fish in the 12 - 14 " range and feisty little buggers they were too ! A return visit is on the calendar for next season, well done WUF for securing this water.
