Just an hour's fishing 7-8pm. Plenty of fly life about but nothing coming to my offerings.

One trout on dry fly no action until later in day. Great River and location.

River running at 1ft, which made getting around fun, but worth it, Usk always seems to fish well with some stain, a gold headed fly with a fluro red tail did the business, making it stand out well, catching in sheltered water. and quieter water just off the main stream.

Late arrival, fished for a few hours from 6.30 - 9.30pm. Two fairly small brownies in the last half an hour - virtually in the dark! Both on a size 14 Grey Wulff. Such a crazily pretty succession of pools and runs - always a pleasure to visit this special spot.

Fished the evening after six o'clock. River running low with plenty of boulders sitting proud, but enough deep water pools to show the evening risers. One small brown trout caught and one 5lb plus jumping in front of me in a middle pool. Lovely beat to share with the local heron.

Had a wonderful 3lb Brown trout and another about half that weight ( on soft hackle dry ) as it was getting almost too dark to see. Hopeless dry, bright conditions, water level low.

Two brown trout caught early in the day, before the sun started beating down, one on a Klinkhammer, the other on a Sawyers Grub, best 15 1/2". Two others connected with briefly on the Klinkhammer, all in the rougher pocket water. The longer flats look amazing for the dry fly, and would probably have been great on this day, as there was plenty of fresh and clear water, but sadly I had to leave at 3pm so will have to come back to try that. A lovely beat.
