1st ever trip to the River Wye, so booked this stretch for 2 days.
Day 1
4 Barbel (2 in the first 2 hours and 2 in the last hour). Best fish was 7.06lbs. Method was pellets on standard ledger set up. 6 chub caught during the day between the barbel, best fish was 4.08lbs, same tactics.

Recent rain had put a bit more water in the river, but no colour. Fished first to last light. Chub first cast, but this proved to be a false dawn, as bites were very hard to come by. Two more Chub followed, one late morning, one mid afternoon. Ultimately 500 mile round journey a bit of a trip for what I could have caught in my local river, but I'll be back.
Track down to fishing hut was fine (but I do have a 4x4) and the beat has plenty of fishable swims (unlike some others).

Lovely day, began around the fishing hut and latterly moved downstream. Three chub to 5 pounds at the hut and then 2 barbel to 7 pounds plus another 7 chub to 4 pounds downstream, all on pellet using mixed pellets and hemp in the feeder. Trotting with a float produced nothing. Activity was sporadic, fish came in bursts followed by long periods of no bites at all. Lovely stretch of river also enjoyed by 9 swans, 6 ducks and the odd flotilla of canoes!

Arrived at 9.00am. The river was low and clear with only the 1st and last swims having a bit of flow in them.
We both started on the float for a couple of hours with a few small fish the only result. Tried feeder just in case they wanted a static bait but nothing. We both moved to the end peg and floated fished the same swim putting in plenty of bait, my fishing friend lost a good barbel at the net, but landed 2 and lost another, I lost 1 and had a chub of about 3lb. The barbel were just under 7lb and about 5. The rain came in the afternoon and we were a bit un-prepared so finished about 7pm.
I must reiterate a previous comment about the car access, in a standard saloon you will scrape the bottom of the car so be careful, otherwise a good beat.

First time on the stretch and a really nice looking fishery. Good access to the river. Fished the quicker water at the bottom and top of the beat to no avail. Trotting corn and ledgering pellet. Packed up about 4.00 pm. From looking at other feedback this may have been when bites would start but we had given it 9 hours and enough is enough. One bite to ledgered meat which turned out to be an eel.

Well what can I say?
Arrived to find a family picnicking right where I wanted to fish with kids and dogs swimming in the river. Barbecue in full flight on the bank, radio at full whack and a scene reminiscent of Weston Super Mare beach!
Started fishing only for another family to arrive on the dreaded canoes and hold an impromptu white water lesson directly in front of us for the next 2 hours before they dragged the canoes out on to the beach and also started to have a barbecue party!
Caught 3 barbel and a solitary chub amongst the commotion, biggest at 9lb 1oz for my 13 yr old son.
Have to say I left the stretch a little dejected having paid nearly £50 for exclusivity only to have my fishing ruined by townies!
I do think WUF should offer evening/half day tickets and also some discount for juniors. £22.50 is extremely expensive for coarse fishing unless total exclusivity can be guaranteed.

WUF note - Unfortunately it is very difficult for us to react to these reports days after the incident. Please call the Booking Office immediately if you should encounter incidents such as this. This beat has a ghillie/keeper who we can phone any time to deal with issues such as this. We try to ensure exclusivity but it is impossible to monitor the whole river 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Another wonderful River Wye session. Arrived at 6.15am to another baking hot start. The river looked very low, clear and not great for fishing, but we love the scenery here and the fishing can be very productive. I did the usual of dragging the base of the car along the entrance and nearly ripped off my exhaust! Really needs sorting that bit! The farmer had trimmed back the field but left the high grass along the entry track which would have helped to improve the fishery no end. We started as usual targeting the faster flow areas as there was little flow else where on the beat. Things started slow as expected and it wasn't much before 3pm that the first signs of the barbel feeding could be seen. Things were sporadic but as evening drew in the bites became more frequent and I bagged 8 fish to just under 7lbs and my fishing partner on his first ever trip to the Wye had 3 barbel to 7lb 8oz.
Another great session here and we both look forward to our next installment! All fish taken on CBS River Monster Boilies and Feeder techniques.
