First time on this river . Fantastic setting . But it is very rugged , not that many accessible swims for coarse fishing . River was running at a steady pace . Holding bottom with 3 oz . Never had first bite till 4 , lost one , landed one 8 lb 6 oz . A lot of canoes. But I did expect that as it was a bank holiday. I would definitely give it another go.

Last day of a 5 Day trip on a falling River. Surely today was going to be a slower day for aching arms after the previous 4 action filled days on the Wye. The three Whiskerteers from Yorkshire signed off in style. Barbel from the off fell to all three rods through out this beat ,applauded by the on looking Kingfishers perching on the odd branch to watch the action before joining in .Pellet feeder was king today. Five days on the mighty Wye brought a total of 202 Barbel and 43 Chub to three rods. What can i say Dream fishing at its best. Thank you Wye & Usk back in Oct when i have recovered.

After 2 fabulous days on Backney surely things could not get better could it. Oh yes! Middle Hill Court is a truely stunning scenic beat . Admittly short on pegs but catch it on a high river and your in for a treat. Slow start but arm aching action was soon to follow with a number of high nines and the second doulbe of my Wye trip in a 10lb 7oz stunning fish. Roll on tomorrow!

The river had settled after rising the day before and looked spot on, unfortunately the fish didn't think so and apart from one run on meet that the chub/barbel left the hook in the weed that was it. Tried 3 swims and all usual baits, however a nice tranquil day and no canoe problems.
Only downside was whoever fished the middle field swim left 10ft of line in the bushes which i tripped on and nearly went in, it only took me a few seconds to pull out, roll up and stick in my bag, why couldn't they do that.
