River looked perfect. We tried just about every bait in our bags and only managed to catch 1 barbel of about 7lb. Very disappointing that the chub did not want to feed either.

It was a beautiful morning, very misty & still with a light frost. The river had come up 2-3 inches overnight. A very slow start and with only 1 barbel of 10lb 3oz caught within the first 3 hours we decided to move further up to the top of Vanstone. This proved as unfruitful as the morning with no further barbel showing. However lots of quality dace fell to maggot. Not the fishing quantity of the previous day, but yet again the stunning surroundings and wildlife made up for this. All barbel caught in our 2 days were of pristine condition & super hard fighters....great sport!! Can't wait to come back. Once again, well done WUF!

This was the first time me and my partner had fished the Wye and we weren't to be disappointed. After lots of overnight rain the river had risen but was running off nicely by the morning. Within the first 45 minutes we caught a barbel of 6lbs and this was followed throughout the morning by a further 6 barbel from 6lb-8lbs. All were caught on groundbait feeder & boillie. However from 2pm it went very quiet and with only 1 lost fish between the 2 rods. All in all a brilliant day set in amazing surroundings with an array of wildlife. We were looking forward to returning the following day. Many thanks to WUF!

Difficult day, rising and coloured with lots of debris coming down. 3 chub to about 4lb and two barbel 5lb and a good 8lb, lovely clean fish. Feeder and pellet, nothing on meat at all. Chublets plucking at boillies. Back again in a couple of weeks.

Fished this stretch for the first time on Nov 1. I found the river up and rising. Had 6 barbel to 9.2 with 5 over 7lb, a very pleasing average size. Most fish fell to meat. Decided to return on Wed Nov 2 and had another 5 barbel with the best going 10.6, again on meat. All fish were in great condition and I'll definately be back!

Our first time on this stretch we had a look round and started fishing about 12.30 pm on the upper part of the beat.
The river was fairly coloured and the current was gradually picking up pace throughout the afternoon as a result of the incessant rain.
The fishing was fairly slow but bites came steadily, and we ended with 9 barbel with a biggest at 9lb 12oz and 7 ranging from 7 to 8 1/2lb, plus a few chub.
The average size of the barbel was higher than we've experienced on other beats and most appeared noticeably deeper bodied, but this was possibly more to do with the time of year than the beat.
Yet again great fun, stunning looking fish and infinitely better than working.

Slow fishing, started at the lower end but didn't have a bite. Moved up to the top end around 2pm, lost a rig in a snag and on second cast within 5 minutes hooked in to a nice looking 5lb barbel. Only fish of the day but still a great day out - thanks WUF.
